String Octet; String Quintet; Piano Quintet - Ensemble Ulf Hoelscher - CPO 999 451-2

All three of these works are the most gorgeous chamber music I've heard in many months! Bruch is known for his lovely melodic invention but in these works the wonderful themes just continue without pause.

While written in the first couple of decades of this century, they show the composer's roots lay deep in the 19th century. Loving performances by the Hoelscher players, preserved with silky sound by the SouthWest German Radio engineers.
