A virtuoso

Mr. Hoelscher offered Dvorak's Violin Concerto, and his approach was decidedly that of a virtuoso. He cultivates a bright, penetrating tone, commands the instrument with flawless technical control, and

rejoices in an outgoing temperament that might even seem too aggressive on occasion. He unusually high-tension interpretation that emphasized the work's brilliance and restless rhythmic energy, often to excellent effect.
